3 Reasons to Add Argan Oil to Your Beauty Routine + Product Review

(The following is a sponsored post and promotional items were given to me by UNi. Views are 100% my own unless otherwise stated.)

Over the past few years, coconut oil has been holding the spotlight of the beauty world (and nutrition world to be honest). It is hard not to come across someone who doesn't love to rant and rave about the wonders of this oil. For a while, I was one of those people. However after some time, I found that it did not live up to the hype, at least when it comes to my beauty routine. So I began experimenting with other oil varieties, for I do believe in the power of oils for beauty.

Long story short, I have found that "different stokes for different folks," is 100% true! What may be the God-sent for someone may be the Hell-sent for you. So, it may take some trial-and-error, by try to find the ideal solution for for you and your skin/ hair. Just because something worked for another person with dry skin does not necessarily mean it will work for your dry skin.

So, on my journey to find oil holy grail, I decided to experiment with argan oil. This oil originates from Morocco and has been given the nickname "liquid gold." The oil is full of Vitamin A and Vitamin E, which help with healing and replenishing. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that is used to protect the outside of our cells from damage. Vitamin A (which is found in retinal creams) is proven to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

The oil is extracted from the nuts of argan trees. This means if you are known to have allergic reactions to tree nuts, you may want to proceed with caution when it comes to argan oil. If you aren't anaphylactic but do have a nut allergy, I would recommend testing a drop of oil on a small area of your skin before globbing it all over yourself. Or check with your allergist. Better to be safe than sorry.

If you are interested in dabbling with argan oil, here are what I found to be the best uses for it!

1. Moisturizer
Two drops usually does the trick!
This oil is great as a day or night moisturizer! Argan oil is considered to be a dry oil, which means it absorbs fast and leaves your skin feeling a bit tight. I found that it sets great under makeup, as long as I didn't use more than two small drops for my whole face. Although I do have oily skin, I did find the argan oil to be a bit too drying to my liking. I can definitely see this as being a useful oil to help firm skin that may be aging. For this reason, I will probably try this as a moisturizer again when I look in the mirror and the sight of Crow's Feet sends me into a panic. (Although my family has tended to age well. Thanks genetics!!)

2. Makeup Remover
This has become one of my main reasons for adding oils to my beauty routine, for nothing wipes the canvas cleaner that an oil! I found argan oil to be no exception to this rule. A little extra Vitamin E when removing your makeup is just an added bonus!

3. Leave-In Conditioner
This was my FAVORITE use of argan oil and is probably why I will continue to keep it on hand! I have always struggled with thin hair, and the only thing "full" about it is being full of split ends.. Oh so attractive.. But alas!! I have found the wonderful solution to that problem!! I put two drops of argan oil in my hand, rub my hands together, and gently comb into the ends of my wet hair with my fingertips. Then I blow dry my hair to luscious perfection! One use and my split ends were gone and my hair was fuller all day long! Not a frizzy disaster like when I normally blow dry my hair!

Once again, that wonderful Vitamin E comes to the rescue, repairing damaged ends and preventing additional heat damage done by the blow drier. And since I have oilier hair as well, the dryness of this oil really helps! (Although I do keep it away from my roots.) Just be sure you don't use too much oil or your ends will just look greasy and wet even after you blow dry.

As with any oil, I highly recommend you find an argan oil that is natural and organic. I have been using UNi's 100% Pure Organic Argan Oil. Their oil is cold-pressed and unrefined which means it has not been stripped of nutrients from harsh processing. The built-in dropper also makes it super easy to use the exact amount that you want. This is great to help prevent wasting product. Since argan oil is one of the rarest oils, it does tend to be a bit pricey. However, UNi's Organic Argan Oil is a great value and, since a little goes a long way, it will last a very long time! You can purchase on Amazon for just under $15 and they do offer free prime shipping! Woop Woop!

I am very glad I decided to experiment with this argan oil! While it may not be the answer to all my skincare woes, it has been for my hair! (Which is essentially a girl's best friend, right? :-) )

Have you ever tried argan oil? If so, how did it work out for you?
