Healthy Snacking: Ball Park Edition

The summer solstice is right around the corner. And nothing says summer like the crack of a bat hitting a baseball. As a Brewer's fan, there's nothing I love more than a good pregame tailgating and enjoying the afternoon at Miller Park. So whether you're going to be enjoying some of America's pastime or splashing at the pool, here are great snacks to have on hand this summer!

1. Pistachios - Trade in those old, boring peanuts and try a more exciting nut! Pistachios are a great source of potassium, protein, and healthy fats. And anxious hands still have the satisfaction of breaking the shell during those nail-biting games!

2. Berries - Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries: all ripe for the picking during the summer months, making them a great seasonal snack. Full of antioxidants, fiber, and sweetness to satisfy a sugar craving.

3. Popcorn - Instead of buying the overpriced, oil and salt cover disaster available at the concessions, bring your own healthier version! Buy a container of popping kernels, put the seeds in a brown lunch sack, and pop in the microwave! You get all the good stuff without the preservatives and toxins from regular microwave popcorn.

4. Greek Yogurt - If you are able to bring a cooler, Greek yogurt is great option. Greek yogurt is packed with more protein than regular yogurt, which can help satisfy hunger longer. Just be sure it is not loaded with sugar. Try to keep it under 20g.

5. Dry Roasted Edamame - This snack gives you 1/3 of your recommended fiber, 14g of protein, and only 130 calories. It's sure to satisfy your salty, crunchy cravings!
